Homes England has launched a downloadable tool to help local authorities and other organisations identify their skills and capacity for housing delivery and regeneration, and to signpost actions to help improve the capacity.
Named the Capacity Analysis Tool, it has been developed by the agency’s Local Government Capacity Centre in collaboration with local authorities, community groups, industry experts and other partners.
It takes the user through a series of evaluations, each of which is scored, on issues such as corporate and project maturity, strategy and vision, organisation and leadership, governance and project and programme management.
Homes England said it should take no more than 30 minutes to complete, and can provide benefits in terms of insights into an organisation’s strengths and weaknesses, help in setting realistic project goals and timelines, and promoting organisational accountability.
Supporting conversations
The agency has also published New Homes Fact Sheets to support local government in conversations with local communities. It consists of 10 sheets with key information and figures on different areas of homes building and regeneration.
Both resources are available on GOV.UK, along with the recently launched Housing Information Hub.
