The Home Office has agreed a £38 million deal with BAE Systems for product development and services to support the Cerberus project for tackling crime in international trade.
The company has been engaged to provide an advanced analytics and targeting system to support border officials in monitoring passenger and freight movements, with the aim of enabling more targeted interventions and seizures.
According the contract notice it came into operation on 21 December last year and is set to run until August 2025. It provides a single delivery partner for the Home Office’s Data Services and Analytics Unit in developing Cerberus.
The project is aimed at providing the Border Force Intelligence Directorate with a unified platform for insights into the activity of organised crime groups by connecting intelligence and data across modes.
It involves bringing datasets from different sources together to identify risk levels in movements at the border, focused on shipments with the highest harm and threat.
