The Home Office has agreed on a two-year, £22 million contract with Deloitte for the provision of ‘transition and transformation leadership services’ related to a new immigration system.
It has published a contract award notice indicating that the agreement came into force in September of last year and is set to run until the end of August 2025.
The Home Office is running the Future Border and Immigration System (FBIS) programme to support a new regime for immigration to the UK. It involves making the processes to apply to live in the country digital by default, with future deliverables including an end-to-end digital journey, online management of the sponsorship system and the development of a chatbot function.
An outline of the relevant service for the Deloitte contract indicates that the core capability is to direct, manage and co-ordinate the delivery of digital products and services to support the new system.
It also involves programme planning, reporting and governance, including risk analysis and management as appropriate; and support for moving FBIS products and services into operational state. This will be followed by a programme of continuous improvements.
The contract reinforces Deloitte’s position in supporting the UK Government’s efforts to develop new border controls. In July of last year it was signed by HM Revenue and Customs in a £100 million deal to act as technical delivery partner in the Single Trade Window programme.
