The Home Office has selected IT and business consultancy CGI as strategic delivery partner for its police and public protection technology portfolio.
They have announced a five-year deal that came into effect in June and is initially valued at £95 million.
The company said it will work with the public protection technology team to deliver solutions in support of the department’s digital transformation agenda.
It highlighted its approach of working with partners including NTT Data, Principle One, Infoshare, other SMEs and law enforcements specialists – adding that it anticipates directing around 30% of the relevant spending to smaller firms over the life of the contract.
It has also made commitments to promote social value.
Public safety
Tara McGeehan, president of CGI UK and Australia, said: “We are committed to improving public safety and we will work closely with the Home Office to support their digital transformation. This will mean we can continue to make our society a safer place to live.
“Technology is undeniably one of the most important tools to improve and reinforce our vital services to government.”
CGI has had a significant stake in supporting the national policing effort through its network management and support services for the Police National Database, a role for which it was retained last year.
