Long time IBM staffer Joanna Davinson to take on chief digital officer role next month
The Home Office has appointed Joanna Davinson as chief digital, data and technology officer, with plans for her to take up the post on 20 November.
She will join the department with a long background at IBM, having been with the company since 1989, most recently in its Global Business Services operation leading the work on cognitive and process consulting and business process outsourcing.
Previously she had a stint leading the company’s public sector business in Europe.
Davinson will step into the role vacated in April by Sarah Wilkinson, who moved on to become chief executive officer at NHS Digital. This came less than a year after Wilkinson took charge of the Home Office Digital, Data and Technology unit as part of a consolidation of its major IT teams, and shortly before the department began to look for a partner in overhauling much of its IT estate under the Technology Platforms for Tomorrow programme.
Davinson said: “I am delighted to be joining the Home Office and to have this opportunity to lead Home Office Digital, Data and Technology.
“I look forward to working with colleagues across the Home Office, in wider Government and in our supplier community to build on the great work that has already been done and to ensure that DDaT continues to brings forward the best in technology innovation and to deliver digital, data and technology services that support and enable the Home Office to achieves its mission and priorities.”
