HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has reached an agreement with Kyndryl for the company to continue to manage a proportion of its mainframe services and help move applications to the cloud.
Under a £4.4 million deal from the G-Cloud framework to run until the end of September 2024, the company will also carry out discovery work to prepare for cloud migration of some of HMRC’s IT architecture.
It will also draw on existing partnerships with Microsoft and the Advanced Computer Software Group’s application modernisation practice to develop modernisation options for HMRC
It said its staff will work with those of the government organisation, which is looking for efficient and low risk routes to migrate applications to the cloud and eliminate technical debt.
Kyndryl’s president for UK and Ireland, John Chambers, said the move will support HMRC’s aim of making the administration of tax systems simpler, customer-centric and more efficient.
