HMRC signs Fujitsu for managed desktop services

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has signed Fujitsu Services as part of the programme to replace its in-house Revenue and Customs Digital Technology Services Company (RCDTS).

They have agreed on a five-year, £250 million contract which went into operation earlier this month, describing the company as “trusted partner to provide all of HMRC’s managed desktop, print and workspace services”.

This will include running a service desk previous managed by RCDTS, which the department has indicated was being closed as part of the development of a new technology supply chain model, aimed at remediating technical debt, reducing risk in the IT estate and providing more flexibility.

It has previously said the procurement is to provide it with a series of service to improve its users’ experience and make use of best of breed technology solutions.

Fujitsu already has a significant stake in HMRC’s digital estate, having retained its role as the provider of applications on a virtual managed environment platform in a £169 million deal agreed in 2020.
