HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has agreed on a deal with Cognizant for support in its digital applications development.
The contract is set to run for three years with a value of up to £90 million, with the company providing expertise in support of HMRC’s case management delivery group.
The award notice highlights the use of the technology stack based on PEGA customer engagement and digital process automation systems, says it will support workflow management and that the majority of the outcome based work will be funded through relevant business projects.
The contract represents a stage in the major investment in digital technology at HMRC, following its emergence as one of the central government winners of last year’s Spending Review when Chancellor Rishi Sunak awarded it over £400 million to support its digital operations.
It is also part of phase two of the department’s Technology Sourcing Programme, under which it is developing a new technology supply chain model with the aim of becoming more flexible and cost-effective, reducing risk in its IT estate and remediating technical debt.
