HM Revenue and Customers (HMRC) has signed to spend up to £245 million with Capgemini for the support of digital platforms.
They have agreed on a five-year contract for digital platforms run, covering professional services supporting HMRC’s multi-channel digital tax platform (MDTP), customer insight platform, the Government Gateway and others.
The contract was awarded under the Crown Commercial Service Digital and Legacy Applications (DALAS) procurement framework.
It will account for a significant element of HMRC’s digital infrastructure, with the MDTP providing access to digital channels that enable British citizens and businesses to manage their tax affairs. It runs as a platform-as-a-service, hosting over 500 microservices and more than 50 tax products, and playing a significant role in the department Making Tax Digital programme.
Other contracts
The agreement follows a series of other major digital infrastructure deals by HMRC over recent weeks for new build services.
They include over three years, with options to extend for two more, and worth between £75 million and £135 million with Netcompany to support the transformation of the Customer Services Group. Others are with Accenture for services over three years and valued at up £151 million, and with IBM, also to run for three years at £75 million.
Capgemini has reportedly won a fourth new build contract but so far no award notice has been published.
