HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is planning to consolidate its data and analytics activities under two major procurements with a total value of up to £590 million.

Its Data Platform Services (DPS) team has begun to engage with potential suppliers on the two procurements, named Core and Intelligence, to take place under the Crown Commercial Service Big Data and Analytics framework.

It has staged an event with IT industry association techUK outlining the plan, along with a description of DPS operations.

Core will consolidate HMRC’s requirements for platform and data management and acquisition, capabilities, while Intelligence will bring together services in areas including advanced analytics, data risk, reporting and dashboarding, and search and discovery services. They will run on the AWS and Azure public clouds, in line with the department’s multi-cloud approach.

Both contracts are set to run for four years, with Core having a value of up to £345 million and Intelligence up to £245 million.

DPS provides services and platforms for re-use in HMRC in areas including search, business intelligence and the provision of data and APIs, with more than 400 service offerings.
