HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has made provision for an £81 million spend on Microsoft Azure services with IT reseller Softcat.
They have agreed on a contract with an initial three-year term and an option to extend for a further 12 months under the software of Crown Commercial Service’s Technology Products and Associated Services 2 framework.
The move reflects HMRC’s long term migration of legacy systems to the Azure cloud, which has seen the rehosting of a number of business services.
It has recently signed a series of major IT contracts, including those with four companies as part of its digital ‘new builds’ programme, with Capgemini for digital platforms support and ArvatoConnect to support its Unity programme for shared IT services with other government departments.
Softcat has a record of supporting central government bodies in using Microsoft services, notably last year’s agreement with the Department for Work and Pensions on a £250 million spend for licences
