HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has awarded a contract to Scrumconnect Consulting to build services on its digital Common Platform for courts in England and Wales.
The company will be the single supplier for design, development and test services under a contract valued at between £9 million and £12.75 million over the two years beginning from last September.
The roll out of the Common Platform, which provides for information sharing between all those involved in criminal justice cases, is a central part of HMCTS’s Service Reform Programme.
HMCTS announced in August that it was live in all criminal courts but that development work would continue until 2025. In July the roll out of the system was the subject of a critical report from Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, but it had reportedly accepted over 500,000 cases and managed over 860,000 hearings by the beginning of October.
Under the new contract, Scrumconnect will be responsible for maintaining the platform and building new automation features to further improve information sharing and data accuracy across the justice system.
Company CEO Praveen Karadiguddi said: “The Common Platform is a fundamental part of HMCTS’s programme to modernise the criminal court system while it moves away from time consuming paper based processes and disparate IT systems.
“We look forward to playing an important role in delivering a robust platform that makes it easy for accurate and up-to-date information to be accessed across the judicial system.”
