HM Treasury has awarded Indian based technology company Wipro with a service integration and management (SIAM) contract for its IT estate.
It said the deal – so far only described as ‘multi-year’ with no value stated – will support the integration of IT services involving multi-functional suppliers and partners, extending to the department’s arm’s length bodies.
The Treasury and Wipro will collaborate on business-as-usual services – such as the day-today co-ordination of service integration involving different vendors – and strategy, design and implementation of changes.
This is aimed at supporting the department’s effort to build a sustainable supplier ecosystem and infrastructure.
Next generation
Its chief information officer Huw Stephens said: “I am looking forward to working with Wipro in shaping and delivering the next generation of IT services at HM Treasury. This new partnership will support the department by improving end to end IT services by delivering more responsive services for our users.”
Omkar Nisal, Wipro’s managing director UK and Ireland, said: “The Wipro team will be acting as an orchestrator; managing and governing end to end service operations across all of HMT’s suppliers; delivering operational efficiency, transparency and improved service quality.”
