Health Education England (HEE) is aiming to develop an infrastructure to support an increased use of machine learning and data science.
It has published a market notice in search of a partner to support the design, implementation and management of an infrastructure for data science and ML in its Microsoft Azure environment.
The notice says HEE – which supports workforce development in England’s NHS – has already demonstrated the viability of ML services and developed a working prototype of a system. It also believes that there is plenty of scope to investigate uses of data science in its workforce modelling.
This has led to a strategic requirement to create a suite of enterprise data science and ML services, underwritten by data discovery/management and analytical services.
Requirement for platform
HEE said it wants to develop a platform, services, tools, methods and artefacts that can be shared across the business to lay the ground for more insights. It envisions that these would be deployed and configured using managed code and link to existing data sources.
Users are likely to include data scientists and ML analysts in the organisation, information governance managers, information managers and the director of IT.
It has already procured support for two ML projects this year, one a discovery and alpha for improved insights, the other for the predictive analytics across the NHS trainee pipeline.
