Two local authorities have taken delivery of a managed service for Microsoft Teams telephony under contracts with MLL Telecom.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich and Portsmouth City Council have migrated employees from their existing call management platforms to Teams using the company’s cloud based Session Border Control (SBS)as a service.

The Greenwich migration took place under a three-year contract valued at £304,000 for around 6,500 users. It was procured through the Crown Commercial Service Network Services 2 framework.

Portsmouth has a five-year, £367,000 agreement with the company, procured through the Solent Framework, for approximately 6,000 users.

Audit before migration

Prior to making its recommendations, MLL provided consultancy services to thoroughly audit the existing technologies in place. Its SBC service manages the flow of communication sessions, such as voice calls, video calls, and other real-time media sessions.

The company’s strategic client director, David Porter, said: “The existing call management platforms were at end of life for both clients and required significant investment to refresh.

“Both our clients were significantly invested with Microsoft and using Teams for internal meetings so from a total cost of ownership and end user experience perspective MS Teams Telephony based on MLL’s SBC platform was the preferred choice.”
