Ross Milhench, ICT strategic business partner at Manchester City Council, discusses the development of the Greater Manchester Care Record.
The information sharing platform gives health and care workers easy access to patient information.
Speaking at UKAuthority's Data4Good conference with Andy Barrow, chief technology officer at ANS, he explained how the care record provides information from range of health and care services, including primary and social care, community and mental health, and specialist operations like the North West Ambulance Service. As a result, patients no longer have to keep repeating their medical history to each professional in different organisations, and clinicians are better equipped to identify patterns and plan care more effectively to meet the patients’ needs.
The platform has been used to support Covid-19 track and trace activities and moving forward they want to enable residents to have access to their own health record.
