The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is aiming to sign up one or more strategic partners to support its digital improvement programme.
It has published a market notice outlining the plan, indicating that it is looking for a two-year deal, with the possibility to extend for two more, valued around £4.1 million.
Three lots are involved, indicating that there could be scope for more than one company to play a role: to work with the GMCA on application development using the low code Mendix platform; strategic software development; and strategic infrastructure.
The notice states: “It is envisaged that the successful strategic digital partner/s will work with Greater Manchester over a multi-year period, building a strategic relationship to: drive effectiveness and efficiencies in our digital services, products and approaches; define and develop strategic platforms to support existing and new use cases; support the GMCA, and other partner organisations, in developing an internal software development/infrastructure capability to work alongside our strategic partner/s.”
The GMCA has launched a number of digital initiatives covering the city-region, including the publication earlier this year of a cyber strategy, work on a data mesh for the integration of health and social care, and the creation of a partnership to build digital connectivity through the GM One network.
