The Government has launched a digital service on GOV.UK to help businesses establish what financial support they may be entitled to during the coronavirus crisis.
Developed by the Government Digital Service, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and HM Treasury, it involves a series of questions on issues such as staff numbers, turn over and business rates payable. These should take minutes to answer and will direct business owners to the most relevant type of support.
It has been designed to help businesses and self-employed people across the UK to quickly determine what support is available.
Business Secretary Alok Sharma (pictured) said: “Businesses of all shapes and sizes play a vital role in our economy, which is why we want to make it as easy as possible for all of them to access our wide ranging package of financial support during this challenging time.
“This online questionnaire takes just minutes to complete and will quickly signpost a business to the loans, grants or other schemes they could be eligible for.”
The move follows up the Government’s pledges of support for businesses during the crisis. These include up to £330 billion in loans and guarantees, deferred VAT payments and the offer to pay 80% of the wages of furloughed workers up to £2,500.
