Gloucestershire County Council has set up a £200,000 Digital Innovation Fund for grants to community groups and organisations using technology in assisted living for adults.
It said the money will be available for new initiatives and projects that are already in place.
The council is opening the fund for bids on 3 March and is planning two workshops in the days before to provide organisations with more details.
The money is being made available to community and voluntary groups, charities, not-for-profit organisations, town and parish councils and religious groups aiming to provide a wider community benefit.
Up to £20,000 is available for individual projects, with decisions to be made by a panel involving the council’s programme manager, social care assessor, lead commissioner and representative of the third sector, and are expected by early May.
Change lives
Councillor Carole Allaway-Martin, Gloucestershire’s cabinet member for adult social care commissioning, said: “Technology has huge potential to change people’s lives and we know there are already some brilliant organisations in the county doing just this.
“Some of the areas we’re particularly interested in are tackling social isolation or helping people maintain their independence – but we want to hear ideas on how technology can enhance people’s lives.”
