COPS group is aimed at pushing the adoption of cloud computing in government

The Government Digital Service (GDS) has set up a cross-government community aimed at making the adoption of cloud service quicker and more efficient.

It is building on the Cloud Office Productivity Services (COPS) within the Common Technology Services (CTS) programme, that takes in tools such as spreadsheets, email systems and collaboration software.

Government Technology blogpost says the community can provide insights on how GDS can best iterate its services, resolve duplications and save money. It involves sharing details of work in the field, providing feedback on discussion posts and reviewing lines of work.

“The more people we have in our community, the better our perspective will be on what we need to do to help government be more productive,” it states.

“In fact, the amount of money we can potentially save rises in tandem with the number of members in the community. More people in the mix means more shared knowledge.”
