The number of government services using the GOV.UK Pay platform increased by 21% in 2023 to total 960, the Government Digital Service (GDS) has said.
It also reported that 364 public sector organisations are using the service, and that 88% of survey respondents said they have been satisfied with its performance, up by 2.7% from the 2022 level.
GDS said the 2023 survey – which was sent to more than 3,000 users – revealed increases in satisfaction levels for its reconciliation of payments and for its support service.
GOV.UK Pay provides an online payment service for public sector organisations and has grown steadily since it was launched in 2016.
A blogpost on the growth says that, in response to the survey, work is now taking place on improvements in the design of the payment journey, and to provide more detailed and auto-generated reports.
The platform has been subject to continuous development, with GDS having added a feature for it to take repeat payments in July of last year, and indicated that it is looking at the possibility of providing an open banking function.
