Prepares to move new version of guide for digital service design to beta phase
A permanent team is to be set up in the Government Digital Service (GDS) to update the Government Service Design Manual.
The move has been revealed in a blogpost by product manager Tom Scott, which says the alpha assessment of the manual’s development has been completed and that GDS is now preparing for the beta phase.
A managing editor, Elena Findley de Regt, has been appointed to GDS and will lead the work on the manual, which was previously updated on a volunteer basis.
It lays out the principles and provides guidance on the Digital by Default Service Standard, which all new digital services in central government are expected to meet.
Scott says there are plans to launch some new content early in the new year, with some changes in tagging to make it more meaningful and some work on navigation patterns.
