The Government Digital Service (GDS) has extended the work of two companies involved in the One Login programme for another two years.
It has published award notices for new contracts with 6 Point 6 and Capgemini for their respective contributions in technical architecture and security services and DevOps support.
The agreements reflect a plan for continuous development of the One Login service, which is providing the public with a single, reusable form of identity verification for central government services.
The contract with 6 Point 6 is focused on the digital identity element of the programme, specifically to provide cloud technical and security architecture to support delivery. It also involves helping GDS build an in-house capability and is valued at up to £9.5 million over the next two years.
Embedding culture
Capgemini’s contract for DevOps support is also to run for two years and is valued at £8 million. The notice specifies that it involves embedding and developing a DevOps culture along the SRE (site reliability engineering) principles already embedded.
News of the new contracts has come soon after GDS published details of a £16 million deal with Deloitte as delivery partner for the programme, with a brief that includes supporting the development of an in-house capability.
In June, officials outlined progress in the roll out of the service, saying it was looking at a range of possibilities for further developments such as creating new questions for knowledge based verification and looking at the potential for the service to work with open banking.
