The Future Cities Catapult (FCC) has said it is working on a toolkit to help public authorities and businesses that aim to provide data related services to cities.
Named the City Data Sharing Toolkit, it is aimed at pulling together good practice on sharing non-personal data, such as that collected through internet of things technologies, and will showcase ways in which it is used.
The FCC said it is currently carrying out early user research and aiming to understand, over the next month, what is needed by officials needing this type of data for the first time.
It has put out a call to potential users to provide strong examples of sharing city data and ideas on what could be included in the toolkit.
“As well as talking to those who have perfected the art of sharing data we want to hear from others who are just starting off on their journey,” it said.
The organisation, which is part of the Government backed Catapult programme to encourage innovation, is planning to hold a workshop as part of the effort on 5 September.
