Foreign Office consolidates treaties databases

02/07/19

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is working on consolidating its two databases of the UK’s international treaties and to make the new version accessible to the public.

It is aiming to make the database available to its staff by the beginning of August and to the public by the beginning of next year.

The department has published a procurement notice for support in running the system, which will bring together the existing two – one each for staff and the public – which are run by separate suppliers.

The new system will include information available only to staff through logging in. They will also be able to update the information.

The UK is currently a signatory to approximately 14,000 international treaties and the FCO regards the database as business critical to its work.
