Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW) has extended the use of its Sunrise electronic patient record (EPR) into Fordcombe Hospital.

This follows it taking over the running of the hospital from a private provider in October of last year.

Almost 1,700 patients have already been transferred to MTW for treatment and a further 800 will be transferred by the end of March this year.

Altera Digital Health, supplier of the Sunrise EPR, said the trust is using it to enhance clinical services and provide additional NHS capacity across the region. MTW is using the newly acquired hospital to provide planned care in orthopaedics, gastroenterology, diagnostics, endoscopy and ear, nose and throat.

Sue Forsey, director of IT at MTW, said: “I’m pleased we’ve been able to support the new facility with an effective EPR foundation as it moves forward to reduce waiting lists and respond to increasing demand. The trust is already seeing the impact the additional capacity is making to patient care and experience.”
