The National Fire Chiefs’ Council (NFCC) has agreed on a £2.9 million, eight-year contract with AVR Group for a messaging solution as part of a Multi Agency Incident Transfer (MAIT) hub.

This is aimed at enabling fire and rescue services to share critical information with the control rooms of other emergency services through digital channels rather than telephone contact.

According to the contract award notice, it will provide for installations of the connections to the MAIT solution for all 33 fire and rescue services in England, being both web enables and fully integrated with command and control dispatch systems.

The solution will be available on a call off basis from a single supplier framework.

The plan emerged from the report on the first phase of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017, with the NFCC going to market for the messaging solution in April of this year.

The organisation has also published a notice in search of a supplier to develop a platform for the hosting and support of new websites and digital services along with a new paid membership portal.
