The National Fire Chiefs’ Council (NFCC) has set out plans for online communities, an improved member management system and more centralised collection of information.
It said these are the priorities for the next year as the next stage in its digital transformation, which it described as an “ongoing evolution” rather than a singular change.
In a blogpost on the plans, the NFCC pointed to four priorities, one being to begin to develop online communities for collaboration and knowledge sharing. It wants members to use its website and accounts to create a hub for collaboration so they will only need to go to one place to learn, share and participate in innovation.
The plan for a new member management system is aimed at facilitating better engagement, with the foundation being the user information already collected through its website.
A centralised area for the collection of information would help the NFCC understand how its resources are being used and collected feedback in a more streamlined way.
There is also a plan to improve the functionality of the organisation’s strategic gap analysis and learning tools.
Top priority
“We’re already working with those who will be using these tools to understand how we can best meet their needs,” the NFCC said. “The development and delivery of these tools is a top priority as we head into the next stage of our work.”
It added that it will continue to develop its website, which over the past year has been given an improved search function, colours for scenarios, a capability for downloading pages and a number of bug fixes and content corrections.
