The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has signed enterprise cloud provider Workday to provide a platform for its HR, finance and procurement functions.

They have agreed on a £11.5 million contract, set to run for five years, under which the FCA will begin to use the company’s ERP system for the functions by the end of March next year.

It will align with the authority’s exit from its current data centre contract.

The deal was struck under the Crown Commercial Service’s resource procurement framework for the resource planning and management solutions.

It marks a significant stage in the FCA’s move towards the increased use of cloud systems. Early last year it laid out plans for a procurement framework to support its technology programmes and projects, with a transition to the cloud being  a major element.

Workday has so far had a stronger presence in the private than public sector, with its Workday Cloud Platform providing the basis for developing apps around HR and finance.
