Essex County Council is making a smart voice companion available to residents to support their healthcare.
It is running a pilot of the Sentai technology with equipment provider Millbrook Healthcare as part of its reablement programme.
The technology consists of a motion sensor, Wi-Fi connected hub and Amazon Alexa as the microphone and speaker. It monitors the activities of care recipients, provides reminders and AI powered conversations.
Care providers can use the dashboard and app for remote monitoring and to understand the daily routines of patients.
Essex Council said the insights can identify where patients need further support, speed up hospital discharge and provide reassurance to their families.
It has been running a series of events with Millbrook Healthcare to promote the use of technology, and plans more in the spring of next year.
