Essex County Council has launched a Covid-19 Welfare platform to support vulnerable people through the pandemic.
Developed by Priority Digital Health inside a week, it is based on the firm’s Priority Platform and runs on the Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) with a high traffic hosting solution.
The platform was commissioned by the county council and delivered by its care services provider Provide CIC to enable vulnerable residents to request support and volunteers to register. Health and social care professionals are enabled to match the two.
It also has a remote ‘stop smoking’ service and other community services.
Priority Digital Health has also trained 350 call handlers and over 3,500 volunteers in using the platform.
It said it can be customised for similar services and mobilised within 72 hours.
The company’s joint chief executive Alison Meadows (pictured) said: “This crisis has brought into sharp focus the opportunity for digital solutions to get help to the most vulnerable people in our communities, whilst relieving the pressure on our health sector.
“The new Covid-19 Welfare platform is truly a local service for local residents and we’re proud that 400,000 vulnerable adults will be supported as a result.”
