The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), its suppliers and supply chain have come together to drive sustainability, explains Mattie Yeta, UK Government sustainability ICT lead.

The recently created Defra e-Sustainability Alliance is working to embed sustainability not just within Defra but across government. Putting this into practice, Defra has published a 'Sustainability in information and communication technology' guide and has embedded sustainability into its own procurement framework. As the SRO for sustainable technology across government, Defra is now working with Crown Commercial Service to embed this within procurement frameworks across the sector.
