Eddie Copeland to head London Office of Technology and Innovation

Eddie Copeland, currently director of government innovation at Nesta, has been appointed director of the London Office of Technology and Innovation (LOTI).

London Councils, the grouping of London local authorities which is hosting the new body, confirmed that the appointment but has so far not stated when Copeland will be taking up the post.

The plan for LOTI emerged from the Greater London Authority, with the aim of promoting technology preparedness and co-ordinating a stream of initiatives in the field.

London Councils has said it will be aimed at supporting greater collaboration between the London boroughs and enabling faster scaling of technology, data and skills across the city’s public services.

Copeland has spent three and a half years with the innovation foundation Nesta, overseeing its work in helping to improve public services and increase citizen engagement. Prior that he spent two years at the Policy Exchange thinktank as head of technology policy.
