The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has completed the first phase of upgrading its digital meetings capability.
IT solutions provider Stone Group has delivered what it described as the largest Skype for Business deployment in the UK, replaced legacy equipment and redesigned the supporting infrastructure across 160 locations in 280 of the DWP’s meeting rooms.
New equipment includes the Lenovo SMART HUB 500 Logitech cameras and Philips display screens.
Stone said that, as a result, 90,000 staff can now share digital content while meeting together on a video call.
It added that the new system is also laying the ground from a switch from Skype to Microsoft Teams.
Greater collaboration
Carl Thompson, product owner at DWP said: “With offices from Penzance to Lerwick in Shetland, advanced video conferencing that Stone have delivered really makes a difference to the operational effectiveness in DWP, enabling greater collaboration.”
The second phase of the deployment will involve setting more digital meeting rooms and is scheduled to be completed within the next nine months.
