The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has appointed Richard Corbridge as its new chief digital and information officer.
He began work in the position yesterday, replacing Simon McKinnon who has retired.
Corbridge comes to the job after four years in various roles at high street pharmacist Boots and has previously held public sector positions as CDIO at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and chief executive, and before that chief information officer, at Ireland’s Health Service Executive.
He was also named Wired magazine change maker for 2023.
Corbridge will lead the DWP Digital team in building and maintaining digital services for the departments, and in shaping its digitalisation strategy.
He said: “I’m thrilled to be joining DWP, an amazing organisation that is on an exciting digital journey. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of people in my first few weeks and finding out more about this amazing machine.
“The next few years will bring fresh digital challenges and innovative developments and I relish the chance to be at the DWP Digital helm.”
