The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has taken on Deloitte as its delivery partner for digital services.
It has agreed with the company on a two-year, £4 million contract for support on a broad portfolio of digital and technology work, emphasising that some of this will need to be approached with urgency.
The contract award notice says demand for relevant services can often be unplanned and critical, which will require Deloitte to work at pace in line with Government Digital Service standards and assurance.
Strategic, longer term work will also be involved.
The award comes three months after the Department for Transport (DfT) indicated it is reviewing DVLA’s operations with a focus on its provision of digital services. Roads Minister Richard Holden emphasised that most transactions are now taking place online and that the DfT wants to understand how DVLA can support the “digitally savvy driver”.
Late last year the National Audit Office gave the agency a generally positive review of its digital operations, highlighting its fast turnaround of online applications.
