Licensing agency reports that plenty of vehicle owners have been quick to use a group of new online services
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has claimed an early surge in take-up of a group of online services launched since the beginning of the year.
People indulging in personalised registrations have apparently been quick to make use of the services to take a number off and place one on a vehicle: just weeks after they were made available the online services are accounting for 33% and 15% of all applications respectively.
The DVLA’s digital services blog also says that the facility for motor traders to notify the sale of a vehicle has accounted for 23% of notifications since it went live in January.
Any effort to promote the services has been limited by election purdah in recent weeks, prompting the agency to hint that the figures could have been higher in normal circumstances.
It added that two more services will become available in June, enabling the online notification of buying a vehicle from the trade and the private sale of a vehicle.
It also working on two services now in public beta phase. The View Vehicle Record service will enable users registered on its fleet scheme to access data on their vehicles, such as when they are due to be taxed or given an MOT, at any time; and Share Driving Licence will allow licence holders to share the information with anyone they select.
