Dumfries and Galloway Council has signed Capita to migrate its financial management system from on-premise to a cloud based solution.
Under a five-year deal worth £527,000 the council is to deploy the company’s Integra Centros software-as-a-service for processes including the management of general and purchase ledgers, job billing and costing functions, and asset management.
The core finance team will have access to the system along with other employees involved in requesting, purchasing, receiving, paying for an accounting for goods and services.
The application is built into the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, on which any upgrades and fixes will be carried out remotely and out of office hours. It is also expected to support integration with third party software and to encourage home working.
James Pocock, business solutions manager at Dumfries and Galloway Council, said: “We are constantly looking at new and innovative ways on how we can improve our services to our communities.
“Moving our financial management services to the cloud will enable our digital services and administrative colleagues to focus on valued added tasks and help the council operation more efficiently.”
