Dumfries and Galloway Council has adopted Civica’s Digital360 cloud platform for interactions with local residents.

It plans to begin using it for revenues and benefits, council tax and welfare services, as well as internal payment and pensions functions.

The move is part of the council’s strategy to move all software provision to the cloud.

Civica said the platform will be combined with a new customer portal through which residents can access their accounts to contact the council, request and track services and update personal information.

The move is also expected to support the Scottish Government’s carbon reduction plan by supporting digital access to services.

Control and access

Cllr Archie Dryburgh and Cllr John Campbell, chair and vice chair of Dumfries and Galloway’s communities committee, said: “People want the same control and direct access to the council as they do from everyday services like Amazon. The new Digital360 platform will allow citizens to transact with us in a much more meaningful way and we can solve issues more quickly.

“Across the council, we’ll have more joined up services for our citizens to improve service delivery across a wide range of areas.”
