Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has launched an e-billing system for council tax bills.
It has encouraged residents to sign up for the service using the MyDudley account and council tax reference from their last statement. As an alternative, it is enabling them to sign up through a couple of quick verification questions.
The council said the move to e-billing will be more convenient for residents and reduce paper waste as part of its Go Paperless strategi, as well as reducing it paper, printing and postage costs.
Cllr Phil Atkins, cabinet member for corporate strategy, said: “People are used to the convenience of paying bills and checking their bank accounts online and we wanted to offer this same level of service to our residents when they view their annual council tax statement.
“Once it’s set up, it’s one less thing to have to think about and is one less important piece of paper to have to file away.”
