The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and Capgemini have announced a three-year agreement valued at £131 million for the company to support the organisation’s digital strategy.

A contract award notice for end user services and applications at Dstl says it has been called off from lots 3a and 3d of the Crown Commercial Service’s Technology Services 3 procurement framework.

It will involve Capgemini providing Dstl – an executive agency of the Minister of Defence – with support in changing its end user experience and service delivery. The work will be focused on growing the organisation’s capabilities and developing solutions that can be effectively managed by partners in industry and academia, based on the pillars of agility, reliability and security.

The agreement builds on Dstl’s partnership with Cambridge Consultants, Capgemini’s deep tech division.

High impact

David English, chief operating officer at Dstl, said: “The new contract will provide better support for the many demands of our science and technology projects and deliver better value for money outcomes. Our collaboration with Capgemini will help Dstl to deliver the high impact science and technology projects that secure the future needs of UK defence and national security.”

Matt Howell, Head of Public Sector at Capgemini in the UK, said: “Our proposed solution will help to drive greater interoperability with wider UK defence and security organisations, leveraging our experience in this area across government and beyond, so that services can be re-used where possible, with Dstl benefitting from access to best practice solutions and economies of scale.”
