The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has published details of three new contracts under the cross-Whitehall Matrix programme.

Veran Performance and KPMG have won new roles in supporting the development of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for a group of central government and agencies in a procurement run by DSIT.

Two of the new deals have gone to HR and finance transformation consultancy Veran Performance: for functional, design and technical implementation support services with a value of £8.2 million; and for department implementation support services at £6.5 million.

KPMG has won a £6.7 million contract for change, engagement and transition services.

All three of the contracts are to run for two years beginning this month.

Expectation of savings

The awards mark the latest stage in the programme, which is aimed at consolidating ERP, HR and finance systems across eight departments plus arm’s length bodies to improve interoperability and reduce costs. It is expected to produce £2 billion in savings against an investment of £900 million.

DSIT is the lead department, with the others being the Cabinet Office, the Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Department for Business and Trade, the Attorney General’s Office, the Department for Education, the Department for Health and Social Care and HM Treasury.

Late last year DSIT published details of a £10.5 million agreement with Deloitte for the company to be transformation partner, and in the autumn it awarded contracts worth £63.5 million to Workday for the provision of a cloud based ERP and to Cognizant at £80.7 million for implementation and support.
