The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has signed consultancy Deloitte as transformation partner for the Matrix Programme for shared services in central government.

They have agreed on a three-year, £10.5 million contract that came into effect earlier this month.

The award notice for the new contract says that Deloitte will “provide strategic advisory services and delivery support to the Matrix delivery partner UK Shared Business Services.

“These services will enable UKSBS to transform and transition in line with the Matrix Service Transformation Strategy agreed back in December 2023.”

UKSBS provides HR, finance, procurement, digital and information services for various central government departments and agencies, with DSIT acting as the lead.

The Matrix Programme involves consolidating core business functions into a single centre to provide time and financial savings, and the development and procurement of new technologies.

During the autumn, two major contracts to support the programme, which is aimed at modernising back office systems, were awarded to Congizant for implementation and support and Workday for the provision of a cloud based ERP system.
