Five NHS organisations across Dorset are going to use a data platform with bespoke website and app as part of a new sustainability programme to engage staff with their net zero ambitions.
University Hospitals Dorset, Dorset County Hospital NHS, and the Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trusts, along with NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust are planning to roll out the Ecoearn programme among over 24,000 staff across the county.
They are working with sustainability engagement company Jump to encourage staff to change their behaviour, working in teams and earning ‘green points’ that can be converted to vouchers for use in local and sustainable shops.
The platform provides staff with access to sustainability information and a function to calculate their personal carbon emissions, and enables the organisations to track metrics such as staff engagement, carbon emissions avoided, and electricity saved.
The website and app are scheduled for launch this month, and the programme will contribute to Dorset’s healthcare sustainability strategy for 2020-25.
Moving cohesively

“The Ecoearn programme is already causing a buzz amongst UHD staff and we’re excited to start competing for green points.”
