Dorset Council is planning to set up a procurement framework to support its efforts in digital innovation – saying that it could have an international significance.
It has published a market notice for a dynamic purchasing system for “innovation as a service”, that says it wants to develop “an agile, pacey yet legally compliant way of working with current and future partners”.
This is part of the council’s effort to establish the country as a centre of digital innovation, an ambition that was outlined by leading officials to UKAuthority last year and covers the delivery of public services and fuelling economic growth in the county.
Big aspirations
“We now have an opportunity to continue supporting and growing this innovation ecosystem to create something of lasting local, national and international significance,” the notice says. “It could draw in millions of pounds and create hundreds of skilled jobs in Dorset, helping support council priorities and regional aspirations such as those set out in the Great South West Prospectus.”
The notice says the framework will be in place for four years and that individual projects could have a high value but would typically have short deadlines.
Its status as dynamic purchasing framework allows for additional suppliers to be added after it goes into effect.
