The Local Digital team at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has begun its search for a supplier to support its Cyber Support Programme for local authorities in England.

It has organised a pre-market engagement event, set to take place on 14 October, on the scope of the relevant contract.

It indicated that this will include working with councils to assess and manage their cyber risk, to reduce any disruption from cyber attacks, to develop routes for ensuring services are usable and accessible but also secure, to ensure councils have the relevant skills, knowledge and tools, and that they have access to key business systems.

Priorities for the supplier include providing advisory, cyber and technical skills and helping councils prepare for new cyber threats.

DLUHC has indicated that it welcomes interest from companies on the Crown Commercial Service’s Cyber Security Services 3 procurement framework.

Local Digital has previously identified cyber security as one of its priorities for its work with councils and laid the ground for a pilot on the use of a cyber assessment framework for local government.
