New Year Honours list is sparing with awards to digital public services pioneers
Efforts to reshape the public sector through digital technologies have received little overt recognition in the 2016 New Year Honours published today.
However,a small group of officials have received honours for their contribution in related roles.
Lin Homer former chief executive, HM Revenue and Customs, is made Dame Commander Order of the Bath "for public service particularly to public finance".
Bobby Paton, managing director, Accenture (North East) is made commander OBE for services to the promotion of IT skills and apprenticeships.
Andrew Smith OBE, chief executive at Hampshire County Council, receives the same award for services to local government
Christine Joyce, former senior information systems service delivery manager at Land Registry receives the OBE for or services to public service IT and to charity.
One name is familiar from the pioneering days of e-government. Heather Rabbatts, who in 2000 set up consultancy Impower, receives the CBE for public service and services to football and equality.

Stephen Edwards, senior project manager, Manchester, HM Revenue and Customs, for services to public sector change programmes.
Dr Josephine Farrar, chief executive, Bath and North East Somerset Council, for services to local government.
Peter Fleming, leader of Sevenoaks District Council and former chairman of the Local Government Association Improvement and Innovation Board, for services to local government.
Daljit Lally, deputy chief executive, Northumberland County Council and joint executive director, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, for services to integrated care.
Jacqueline Rowell, network manager, Universal Credit Operations Directorate, Department for Work and Pensions, for services to public administration.
