Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) has signed Kainos as its agile product delivery partner.

The special health authority that creates digital solutions for healthcare in the country has agreed on a sole supplier framework agreement with the company, set to run for four years with a value of up to £20 million.

According to the contract award notice it will provide for services to be called off in the delivery of the NHS Wales App – on which the company has already been working – and other elements of the Digital Services for Patients and the Public Programme.

The programme has been set up to help create digital services through which people can manage their health and wellbeing, to open up channels for capturing and sharing information, and to develop the models on consent and data provenance.

Kainos was signed by DHCW as technical delivery partner in 2021 and has previously highlighted it work on the app, which was delivered ahead of schedule in April of last year.

Last month it extended its strategic delivery partnership with research charity Our Future Health.
