The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) has taken a step towards implementing a digital system to manage queues for Covid-19 tests.
It has signed ACF Technologies – which includes physical and virtual queue management systems among its specialities – to provide the software and hardware for the service.
The deal, valued at £800,000, was awarded without a full call for competition due to the urgency of setting up the system.
AFC promotes its software as including functions for self-service check-in, customer verification and tracking, automated waiting term alerts and real time and historical reports.
Last week’s launch of the testing centres for Covid-19 was followed by reports of long queues, making it impossible for some key workers to be tested for the virus.
