The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced the roll out across the NHS in England of a tool that brings together data on individual patients’ cancer care.

Named Cancer 360, it has been built into the Federated Data Platform (FDP) and pulls together information on tests, appointments and treatments and shows it on a dashboard to help clinicians prioritise patients most in need.

It said this will save them from having to find the information from various systems, spreadsheets, emails and records, and will help them to track a patient’s progress, produce personalised treatment plans and reduce paperwork.

DHSC said the tool has been used by a number of NHS trusts since April of last year and is now to be rolled out across all those in England.

Dr Vin Diwakar, NHS national clinical transformation director, said: The NHS Federated Data Platform is already showing its value in transforming cancer care, helping our hard working staff deliver better outcomes while reducing administrative burden.

“As Cancer 360 expands to more hospitals nationwide, I’m confident we’ll see meaningful improvements in both treatment times and patient experience.”
